ClearCOGS is looking for a VP of Engineering to join our rapidly growing startup team that is using demand forecasting to improve restaurant operations and prevent food waste. This role involves managing a remote team of 2-6 highly motivated, self-sufficient, and passionate developers, engineers, and analysts responsible for overseeing our SaaS product. The VP of Engineering will work with the Head of Product to build and execute a multi-year product strategy, set a vision, outline goals, and identify new technology opportunities specifically related to the engineering function of the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience building groundbreaking technology, a vast knowledge of engineering tools, and love the challenges that come with nurturing a team to meet their goals and create something new. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head of Product to create a strategic product roadmap that outlines future development, including feature releases, enhancements, and major milestones 

  • Train, mentor, and motivate a team of passionate engineers to foster a high-performance culture that exceeds company OKRs 

  • Develop, with the Head of Product, a plan for integrating the technical roadmap into the organization's workflow, including, but not limited to, outlining the steps and objectives needed to achieve the technical vision, tracking metrics, creating custom dashboards, and tracking team projects and tasks

  • Ensure the technical roadmap is communicated, understood, and implemented by the engineering and developer staff

  • Contribute to technical engineering designs, resource management, and implementations

  • Work with team to solve complex software engineering tasks while maintaining coding standards and practices

  • Coordinate with the Head of Product to manage product launches, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful, impactful launches, and monitor customer feedback to refine the product post-launch

  • Encourage creativity within the team, explore new technologies, and market trends to identify opportunities for product innovation, drive experimentation, and champion continuous improvement to stay ahead of market demands and drive business growth

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

  • 7+ years of software development experience building enterprise SaaS and cloud-based solutions

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in an Agile/Scrum environment

  • Demonstrated success in implementing the technical roadmap, including design, development, delivery, and maintenance of large-scale and high-performance platforms

  • Highly proficient with all layers of the development stack

  • Experience leading SaaS-based engineering teams

  • Strong leadership and analytical skills to effectively guide and collaborate across remote teams to influence decision-making and drive innovation

  • Experience managing a development team (remote preferred), setting goals, providing motivation, and being an influential leader

  • Top-notch (written and verbal) communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills

  • Experience working at a startup or early-stage company

  • Ability and interest in working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment

  • A passion for restaurant technology and a desire to contribute to a mission-driven organization

Bonus skills

  • Experience with project management in Notion

  • Understanding and insights into restaurant operations and their needs

  • Restaurant experience
